Zebra and More

This was a giant, mostly open area with animals scattered throughout.  It was kinda fun trying to spot stuff from so far away.  These are the last of the pictures I have from Binder Park Zoo.  Overall, I'm glad we went because I just love visiting new zoos, but I highly doubt we will be back as it was just too much strenuous walking for Joe.

Mexican Gray Wolf

So the reason we stopped by Binder Park after having already walked through the Grand Rapids Zoo was because I love wolves.  Unfortunately, like most of the animals at Binder Park, the wolves were very difficult to see.  But I'm being a bit hard on Binder Park.  I actually didn't think we'd see them at all because it was the middle of the day, but we were patient.  I think we watched for at least 15 minutes before we finally spotted a couple come out of their den.  It was so neat!

Bears

These guys were chasing each other which was neat to see, but very difficult to photograph through the viewing window.  Oh well.

Random

So on a whim, Joe and I decided we would go to Binder Park Zoo on our way home from the Grand Rapids Zoo.  Let's just say that we were a bit disappointed with Binder Park.  I'm sure some of it was just being tired from so much walking already.  But they were understaffed and we didn't really like the actually layout because we had to take a 15-minute hike from one section to the other.  Then, it was another hike around the loop to actually see the animals.  But the lookout points of the enclosures were poorly placed and we couldn't see many animals at all.  We were able to get a spot on a tram ride back down the hill to the first section so we could leave.  Overall we ended up walking a few extra miles without much of a reward of being able to see and photograph animals, especially when comparing it to our earlier experience at Grand Rapids Zoo.
