I enjoy when the zoo is fairly empty like it was on this beautiful fall day because not only do I feel the freedom to take as much time as I want at each enclosure, but I generally can chat with the keepers or volunteers to know the animals by name and can tell me about their antics. I had a lovely conversation with an older gentleman who I caught talking to these monkeys as I was approaching.
I had never realized before this visit to the Indy zoo that the orangutans can utilize those platforms, high up there. I loved watching this one as he traversed high above me from platform to platform until he found the exact spot he wanted to chill. So cool!
Have you ever looked at an animal you've seen many times before in your life and just found yourself amazed that it exists? I was oddly struck by these rhinos and just thinking about how unique, weird, and fascinating they are. God's creation sure is amazing!
I spent a while watching the chimps. I enjoyed seeing them traveling through their tunnel system to get to different parts of the zoo.
I loved the beautiful, golden rays of sunlight hitting the yellowing leaves on that perfect fall day. It sure makes for some extra special pictures!
