Bat-Earred Foxes and More

This was such as weird and disappointing experience for us.  My husband and I specifically wanted to go to the zoo to see the baby bat-earred foxes.  We got there shortly after they opened and at first none of them were out.  We waited though as seeing them was all we cared to see.  After a bit, the parents and one baby came out.  We could tell something was going on behind the scenes, but had no idea what it may be.  At some point the baby was enticed to go to the back with just the parents locked out in the enclosure.  They didn't seem to mind at first because they were enjoying the treats that were left for them.  But the treats ran out pretty quickly.  The parents were okay at first, but as more time passed, they got increasingly agitated.  I couldn't bring myself to take pictures of them because it was too uncomfortable for me to watch.  And yet, we stayed and watched.  I was quite determined to not just see the babies again for myself, but for my husband to also see them.  Eventually it seemed that a zoo worker noticed that the parents were not okay and becoming a risk to themselves and gave them more treats to get them to calm down.  It was then that we finally were told that the babies were getting their vaccinations for the first time.  We lingered for a bit longer, but left pretty quickly after that as we'd been waiting at that enclosure for 45 minutes.  We walked the rest of the African area and then left.  It was probably the most disappointing zoo visit I've experienced.
